Description
Caustic Reality is an independent game studio made up of just one game developer. Clinton McCleary from Sydney, Australia. McCleary had over seven years experience as a designer in the serious games and corporate education sector. He is a graduate from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, with an advanced diploma of game development specialising in game art. Infliction was his first video game, entirely as a solo project. Now Clinton boasts over a decade in the Games Industry with varied experience from Art to Design and Game Direction.

History
Caustic Reality was founded while Clinton was studying game development. As a student he decided to begin development on what would eventually become Infliction and Caustic Reality was born.

Infliction
After playing Gone Home, Clinton felt inspired to learn game development and create something of his own. Infliction always had the world building and environmental story telling inspired by Gone Home but went through several iterations before it became fundamentally what it is today. The new additions to the game play were largely stealth based with a survival slant. infliction was successfully released on PC on the 18/10/18 and was well received by both critics and players alike. It was later ported to Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and Switch by Blowfish Studios.

Between projects
Between projects, Clinton took a detour. Working as a Mission Designer and eventual Game Director at Blowfish Studios. He worked on several unreleased/unannounced existing IP titles.

The INDIGO Initiative
After releasing Infliction, Clinton began developing an ideation VR tool, a holodeck-style setup that allowed users to load different environments, or “Dimensions,” to inspire creativity. While experimenting with the tool, he realized, “This is actually pretty fun. Maybe this should be the game.” That moment sparked the earliest concept for The INDIGO Initiative, drawing inspiration from titles like Portal and Breath of the Wild. Clinton brought his narrative outline to games writer Jono Peck, and together they began shaping the story of The INDIGO Initiative.
